Do you ever have one of those days where you feel like you have surely read all the blogs worth reading, and the only ones left to discover are the boring, the trite and the angry?
And then, maybe you find a blog that is new to you, and it is so funny, clever and tightly written that you give a little whoop! and do a little “found a good blog” dance?
Maybe that’s just me.
(And then sometimes the new blogger you discover decides to stop blogging because she wants to spend more time with her family, and you know that is really mature and wise and everything, but secretly you are thinking, but what about ME? What will I read when you go away? )
(I was going to link that parenthetical paragraph to a blogger who did just that, but her URL has now been taken over by a p*rn site. Ewwww. See? Quitting blogging is BAD.)
ANYWAY. This is why I was thrilled when I found Navel Gazing at Its Finest, who responded to a tag of a tag from my Ten Literary Characters meme, and she came snooping around here to find out who started it. Her blog is great. She has been blogging since June, and she is deee-lightful. Just check out this plea on her sidebar:
If You Choose Not to Comment…
…that’s fine – just be aware that I may die. Really. Because every person who reads without commenting kills off another little piece of my SOUL. I just wanted you to know. So you can, you know, have a clear conscience at my funeral. Which might be soon. No pressure though.
You know you would love to have the gall to write that. Or maybe that’s just me again. But how can you possibly resist?
One of the first posts of hers I read was “Insecure.” By the end I was laughing that strange, choking honk-quack that I do when I have been rendered helpless by The Funny.
Thank you, Sue. Your post was perfect.
(The Original Perfect Post Award was invented by Lindsay and Kimberly, and you can see a list of this month’s other winners at their sites.)

Thanks so much about telling us about Navel Gazing. I clicked on your link and now it is 12:30 am and I should have been in bed an hour ago.
That quote cracks me up. No pressure.
Aw, Veronica… This is SO SO nice. And I feel like such a heel for putting up my awards post (TOTALLY COINCIDENTALLY) on the same day you did this, because this is such a genuinely wonderful, flattering gesture.
I am truly touched – mainly because I admire your writing so much! I’ve had you in my bloglines since I first discovered you because of the post about the Ten Literary Characters (along with the other poor little abandoned memes), a post that had me almost crying with laughter.
So thank you – so much. That whole “awards are dumb” post? I TAKE IT BACK! :> Awards are awesome. And so are you!
Thanks for sharing. I will have to go check it out. A new blog is like a Christmas present all shiny and pretty on the outside and all the excitment of finding out what surprise is waiting for you on the inside. Some are the coolest new toy of the season and some are socks and underwear. Ok, enough metaphors, must return to work now….Aww…who am I kidding…back to Google Reader…
Veronica, this is EXACTLY how I felt when I discovered your blog through a link on Antique Mommy (in fact, it’s how I felt when I discovered her blog too…)
Ooooh, yay, I can’t wait to go check her out. And of course I will be compelled to comment.
Just found you from Antique Mommy and now this one? Too much fun in a week! Sooo funny.
I felt the same way when I discovered Sue’s blog. I loved her sidebar comment also.
I love Sue, too, and I found you through her. Double the joy
Heidi
Sue is one of my favorites, too. How does she do that, you know, that funny thing so well? I still crack up thinking about the angry, menacing ducks.
Oh, and do drop by if you are having a bad day with all those little ones. Check out the Popular Posts on the left (or is it right? I mix that up a lot).
I love, love, love Sue. It’s great that you recognized her awesomeness and quadrupled her visitor stats (I think you made her day). Can’t wait to read about you!
is it called reverse psychology when you blog about how good someone’s blog is, so your readers will go there but then her readers make it here…but here I am because who really needs to do laundry or supper or spend some quality time with their 7 year old…can’t wait to read more.
found you from Sue (who I don’t personally know either), I love your description “choking honk-quack” – which I have never before heard described MY laugh so perfectly.
I was totally ready to cheer the “choking honkquack” but I see I’m not alone… So lots of cheers for your description!
