About that meme…

October 6, 2007 by Veronica Mitchell

I thank you all for your enthusiastic response to the list of posts I decided not to write. I dashed that post off quickly, and then kept sneaking back to read it because it made me giggle. I’m delighted that you did too.
Many of you asked me to please go ahead and start the meme of ten snoggable literary characters.

You might think that I refrained from writing that particular meme because my husband is irrationally jealous. You would be wrong. He is not particularly jealous, but he is extremely fair.

I’m the jealous one.

When Az the Husband saw that meme title, he said, “Would you want me to spend time thinking about what fictional women I would like to kiss?”

And no, dear readers, I would not. I would not at all. I am a little crazy, you see.

But after reading all your comments, and after I reminded him that I called him the name of a particular literary character as a pet name when we first married, he said that I could pass the meme off to you, and IF someone tagged me back, then I could do it and he would be okay with it.

These are the loving, irrational bargains that we come to after twelve years together.

So have at it. Joy, Chrissy, Chantelle, Luisa, Mrs. Who, BubandPie, DaniGirl, Blog Antagonist, Sherri, Eve, Mary Joan, tardyteacher, Shannon, and anyone else interested: consider yourself tagged, if you like, for Ten Literary Characters I Would Totally Make-Out With or whatever alternate title you prefer.

(And maybe someone can tag me back.)

I’ll just go with Father Ralph from The Thornbirds. Ten times.

Veronica, you’re funny! Very clever, getting us to do the work while you sit on your steamy literary secrets! ;o)

As you can see by my pingback, I did the deed. It wasn’t easy, though.

I could make a strong case for Howard Roark as being one of the best literary figures for snogging, though, as in his initial appearance in The Fountainhead, he’s naked.

You can’t say that for any of the other characters. ;o)

Oh, I cannot WAIT to see the answers to this meme!

First, I love the word snoggable. I love it so much I want to snog with the word snoggable. (Snog? Snogg? Do snog someone or do you snog with someone? I think we need a post on the grammatically correct way to utilize the word snog. Or snogg, whichever it is.)

Mr. Darcy is the first one who comes to mind, but it’s possible that in thinking of Mr. Darcy I am really thinking of Colin Firth, which makes him real and therefore I really shouldn’t think of it, because I am married. Which of course is the only reason I couldn’t make out with him, because of course he is waiting on the edge of his seat, should I ever become available.

Literary characters I would like to make out with.
I cannot believe you did not tag me. I could have come up with such awesome answers, despite my frequent unreliabilty when it comes to answering memes…

Okay, mine’s up at last! I’ve been working on it all day – I got really stuck at 7 for awhile. It’s surprisingly hard once you get past #5 or so.

I had to add one to my list tonight when my husband reminded me of Lord Havelock Vetinari, ruler of Ankh Morpork.

And actually, now that I think of it, I’m immensely attracted to Sam Vimes, too.

    And Carrot.
