Other Voices, Other Rooms
September 30, 2007 by Veronica Mitchell
I have been reading so many different voices in the blogosphere that I am having a little trouble finding my own. A little rest is in order.
I have a week’s worth of posts scheduled, so there will still be new posts here every day, but I won’t be reading anyone else’s blog for at least a week. It will be my own little mental holiday and I hope to return refreshed. There are a few difficult writing tasks I have been trying to accomplish, including a couple of posts, and I hope to work on those with the time I usually devote to reading everyone else’s posts.
So forgive me if you don’t see me at your place for a little while. I will be back.

Oh, I’ve been there, done that!
I’ve had to stay “home” on my own blog several times to clear my head. It’s good a good thing.

Good for you!
I’m relieved to hear that other bloggers take reading breaks as well. In fact, my husband requested that I don’t read other blogs just prior to posting my own thoughts. He said I too easily mimic another’s style and so lose my own voice. Staying authentic for me requires the sacrifice of time as well as the fasting from others. Have a marvelous break. I look forward to your writing return in your time and voice.
I think it’s a very good idea to give yourself a mental break. I could probably use one myself except that it would require me to break my addiction to checking my blogline feeds every time I sit down to the computer.
I’m glad you’ve scheduled posts though so that I can continue to feed my addiction.
Have a good break!
Enjoy your time away. I’m looking forward to reading the posts you’re planning to write.
I was just thinking the same thing myself. I wake up with various blog posts circling in my head, yet once I do my rounds (via Bloglines), I feel uninspired. I think I’ve spent so much time reading other voices, I’ve lost my own.
May your break be refreshing.
Enjoy your holiday!
