In the Ill of the Night
March 30, 2007 by Veronica Mitchell
Sweetpea recovered from her sickness and is now happy and healthy. Now JellyBean is sick.
Two nights ago she stayed up all night vomiting. I used to think that was a hyperbole. Apparently, it can actually take a 3-yr-old ten hours to empty that little tummy, in intervals of 30 minutes.
She is keeping stuff down now, but she had a fever of 102.8 a few minutes ago, and she is quite lethargic. We are doing our best to keep her hydrated, but she often refuses to drink, and has little interest in food.
It is rough around here. We have seen the doctor once and may do so again tomorrow, depending on her condition.
I worry. I pray. I worry.
I hope I don’t go into labor until she is better. I don’t know how we would manage.

We had a night like that on Monday. They are awful. Every ailment is bigger and scarier and one hundred times worse at night.
For us, it was a three-day affair, but it got better each day.
Hang in there. I feel for you. It’s so hard when they are sick.
My littlest munchkin was sick recently.
Try giving JellyBean little sips of water (like, less than 3 teaspoons) every five minutes. Or Pedialite, which is better if she’ll take it. I hope she’s better this morning.
Ooh. Harry had either a rotavirus or a norovirus a few weeks back. He threw up for TWO SOLID DAYS. He wouldn’t even drink water. Then he spewed out the other end for another FIVE. Holy crap. Literally. And all I could do was hold him and clean up the respective bodily fluids.
And to add insult to the cleaning bill, I came down with it three days later…
I feel your pain. And hers.
Praying for all of you. And all the tummies to behave, in one way od the other
Why is this always the way it happens?
Thinking of you…
I’m praying for you all, even now…
Have been through the vomit marathon with Sean and I hate, hate, HATE it. It’s miserable for everyone. Wish I were there to help. This too shall pass, but I’m sure not quickly enough.
